And I’ve got friends who love me
Bright stars shine above me
My blonde hair is everywhere
Mamma loves me and a sister who shows me, and a daddy’s always there
My sweet 16!

Sweet sixteen
Gonna spread my wings
Sweet sixteen
It’s my chance to shine
Sweet sixteen
Discovering
Sweet sixteen
So much more to life
Sweet sixteen
It is not only your child that is going to shine and spread his/her wings on that very special day. It is you as well. Look at it as a chance – to make a farewell to the beautiful teenage and childhood ages and to welcome new adult age of your child, where best is yet to come” Before you come to the creative and entertaining part, there are few basic things you have to be assured that your invitation has. Those things are:
- Celebrant’s name: it should be written at the top of the invitation since it is the first thing the invitee has to see is the invitation card.
- Date: also make it clear at the top of the invitation. If the party is happening outside, you should put an alternative “rain date” if it is possible. Also, avoid dates that overlap with holidays.
- Time: similar to date. If it is a surprise party, you should emphasize that in the card to avoid overlap of guests’ and celebrant’s arrival.
- Location: give the full address of the venue where the party is taking place. If the invitation is being sent in the online form, you should include a Google location link as well.
- Hostname/RSVP: this is one of the key issues regarding party organization. Politely ask guests to reply to the address/phone number given in the card to confirm the arrival. Also, give a deadline for response and politely ask them to confirm their arrival up to the deadline date.
- Recipient’s address: although they require more jobs, personal invitations are always better than circular ones. By putting the invitee’s name and address into the invitation, he/she will be assured that the invitation is for them.
- Salutation: if it is a formal party, you should address the invitee with Dear sir/madam (1) or Dear Mr/MS (2) (depending on if you are finishing with yours faithfully (1) or yours sincerely (2)). Yet, if the party is more casual you may just say Dear XXXX. Like in the previous bulletin, it is preferable to make personalized invitations, therefore the invitee will be sure that the invitation card was not sent to them by mistake. Be sure that you have spelled your guest’s name and/or surname correctly!
- Online invitation VS paper invitation: this is the question that requires special attention. The paper invitations are more traditional, give guests a tangible reminder of an event but also take time to be printed and sent and might be sent to the wrong address. On the other hand, online invitations are more effective and more budget-friendly, but they might be deleted or sent to spam/junk folders. Also, not all guests may have internet or you might not know the e-mail addresses of all your guests! Both types of invitations have their advantages and disadvantages, therefore it is up to you to make the final decision.
- Party theme: unlike previous stuff, this one is not necessarily explicitly mentioned, but you should at least give a small clue with the card’s decoration style.
- Your signature: like previous stuff, it is not obligatory, but your signature may give a more personal note to your invitation.
Additionally, check the invitations before they are being sent. The resent of the invitation is a complication that you do not want to happen. The invitations should be sent at least 4 weeks before the event if it is an informal event and 8 weeks if it is a formal event. Therefore, the guests could prepare. Under no circumstances mention gifts. It is simply not the polite thing to do, except if it is a sweet 16 party without gifts and hence is necessary to say “No gifts needed” to save guests’ budget from unnecessary costs. The gift registries are not common at sweet 16th birthday parties. But in the end, if you really want to bring a gift, here are some sweet 16 gift ideas just for you!
May your child sweet sixteen be the party that both of you will remember until the rest of your life and may all your wishes come true!
